Free Raw Food Demos in Mission
On Saturday August 13 at the Pantry in Mission, I did a demonstration how to make GREEN SMOOTHIES and showed how easy it is to make RAW PASTA from root veggies! The idea of the demos, which took place at 10:30 am and 1 pm, was to introduce people to raw foods, and give them the chance to taste some delicious living food!
It was a great day with large crowds. I showed how to make of a couple of different flavours of Green Smoothies, and then demonstrated how to make pasta noodles from zucchini, carrots, and beets, which were coated in a creamy sauce. The demos and tasty raw foods were a hit!
The Pantry, 33051 First Avenue in Mission 604-826-7561, is a natural foods store where you will find all those natural food items you have been looking for - just ask the owner, Margo! This was the first year for Mission Fest 2011 - Mission's Downtown Street Fair! They blocked off the main street for events, demos, entertainment at the main stage, and it was a lot of fun to participate.

Victoria Boutenko - June 18, 2010
I am so excited that Victoria is coming to Abbotsford for a 3-hour presentation which will include a 2-hour talk, 1-hour Q&A, and Green Smoothie tasting! I met Victoria at a weekend event last year and thoroughly enjoyed her presentation, the immense amount of information she shared, the Green Smoothies, and of course Victoria who is such an amazingly straight forward person who tells it like it is. If you can attend, it will be well worth it! There will be a 3-week Green Smoothie Challenge following Victoria's talk for those of you who are inspired and want some support getting started - August 10-31.
Victoria Boutenko is an author, teacher, inventor, researcher, artist and mother of three. She teaches classes on healthy living and raw food all over the world. As a result of her research and teachings, thousands of people are drinking and sharing green smoothies.
She has authored 12 Steps to Raw Foods, Green Smoothie Revolution, Raw Family Signature Dishes and Green for Life. Green for Life is an award winning, international best seller which has been translated into 26 languages with over a quarter of a million copies being sold world wide.
Through Victoria's thorough research, she found "that adding blended greens to anyone's diet makes such a profound health improvement, that it may even surpass the benefits of eating a typical all-raw diet with a relatively small amount of greens". You can view more about how her family overcame health challenges simply through dietary changes at http://www.rawfamily.com/

Front row from left are Brian, me, and Glen.
Once there everyone scattered in all directions, but we all had a great time visiting the individual table displays, attending the hourly workshops, and taste testing the food samples. A fun day!
My teacher RawRose, was a workshop presenter at the show and made her Banana Lemon Pie. The recipe is in her "Uncooking with RawRose" book. It was just wonderful to see her again!
After the show some of us went to Gorilla Food for a raw meal.
It was a great rush to take pictures before we ate - because we were all very hungry!
Right - Burger and Jungle Coleslaw
Below - Avocado Carrot Soup
